Minutes of May 7, 2009 meeting
Meeting called to order at 7:00pm

Officers Reports
The secretary Dan Gathercoal, read the minutes from the April meeting
Treasurer, Tom Houghton, reported 49 paid members and a balance of $3,151.13
after the $300.00 down payment to Walter Paytons’ for the Christmas Party
Education/Training; Nothing new to report
Media; Nothing new to report
Website: Brian needs articles for the next news letter. the list of upcoming
events has been updated.

Cushing report; The field is in good shape. Time to get flying
Clow report. Cavalcade of Planes is June 6 & 7
Tent Saga.
The offer to purchase the tent the club has been borrowing back fired as the
owner offered the tent to the church group that also borrows the tent and they
purchased it, so the tent is no longer available.
After much discussion a motion passed to use club funds to rent a 20x30 tent
($500.00) and supplement this with existing club tents.
Christmas Party
A deposit has been made at Walter Payton’s Round House. Date (subject to
correction) 12/05/09, 3:00 to 6:30pm
Meals for the summer meetings
Barry and Christine Ward have volunteered to host the June meeting at their
hanger including meal prep.
Food purchase for the remaining summer meetings to be settled at the June
meeting.
OSHKOSH Planning
Brian will once again provide his excellent briefing but WILL NOT be available
to be Airboss. Need volunteers for Airboss
Need a volunteer for food buy or to have this year be BYOF. More discussion to
come at the next meeting.
FVFC Banner.
The FVFC banner is now on display at the Illinois Aviation Museum
PRESENTATIONS
Andrew Kellogg Gave a presentation on Banner towing
Highlights
Banners can be “alphabet type” up to 200 feet long or “billboard type” that are
88 foot by 44 foot
Banners are picked up by a grappling hook thrown from the plane making a low
pass and catching the banner tow rope that is suspended over two 6 foot poles
that are 8 foot apart.
Banners are towed at 45mph. The Bellanca Scout that Andrew has been flying
stalls at 38mph
Steve gave a presentation on the KitFox he is building with a caterpillar theme.
Who’s been flying.
Bob and Don flew to Sun and Fun in the Cessna 210. had a great trip
PROJECTS
Tom Houghton reported his KitFox is ready for covering.
Phil Bolenbaugh reported that the fuselage of his Rans is covered and one wing
is built and the second is started
Roger Kellogg reported that Andrew has covered the Casault project he is working
and that Roger has the canopy almost done on his RV7
Good of the club
Joe Simosky reported an oil leak caused by the CHT sending unit on his Rotax 503
“ovaling out”
