Minutes of June 3, 2010 meeting
Meeting was held June 3, 2010 at Clow Int’l
Airport in the Ward’s hanger, called to order by Roger Kellogg at 7:00pm.
Roger welcomed the members and guests, read the FVFC mission statement and
reviewed the meeting agenda.
Business
The secretary read the minutes from the May Meeting.
The treasurer was MIA, a balance of $2,727.49 plus $25.00 dues received was
reported at the May meeting
Education/Training
Nothing reported
Web-site
Brian Gilomen reported the web site is up to date including a photo of
Clow
CLOW REPORT
The back side (Southwest corner & west side) had been cleaned up
One of the C172s that had been used for training at Clow had been sold and is
now operating out of Lewis Airport with a new company Chicago Aviation.
Cavalcade is June 5 and 6. FVFC has the same spot as last year. 8 FVFC members
have volunteered to assist with crowd management for the Ford Tri-Motor
Tri-Motor rides will cost $50.00 ($100 for the co-pilot seat)
CUSHING REPORT
It was reported that the south end of the field was wet but the rest of the
field is in good shape. The second Evector Sportstar was scheduled for delivery
by the weekend.
CONTINUING BUSINESS:
OSHKOSH
Tent is set for this year
Meal planning is proceeding
Ground Transportation – Still in work
Demo Team – Dropped, no volunteers
Next meetings: July Moved to the second week 7/8, Aug 8/5 – At the
Ward’s hanger. Need food volunteers for July, Aug, Sep.
Agreed to move September meeting to 2nd Thursday as several members schedule
vacation the week before Labor Day
Cavalcade: is June 5 and 6. FVFC has the same spot as last year. 10
FVFC members have volunteered to assist with crowd management for the Ford
Tri-Motor on Sunday
Tri-Motor rides will cost $50.00 ($100 for the co-pilot seat) Barry Ward noted
that things were well organized. The Trimotor was on site on Thursday and was
scheduled to give rides Fri-Sun
It was noted that the airport will be open during the Cavelcade
June 19th, Cushing Picnic
Hanger Dance at Cushing – possibly in August.
Trikefest at Cushing the weekend before Oshkosh
PROJECT UPDATES
Steve V. Kitfox – making slow and steady progress
Andrew K. Cassult – making some progress
Tom H. Kitfox – making slow but steady progress
Roger K. RV7 – Making good progress, Roger reported he had a flight in another
builders RV7, added inspiration.
FLYING REPORTS
Vance flew locally the day of the meeting
Bob Riddle flew to Morris
Brad Wolf attended the Poplar Grove Pancake Breakfast
Roger flew to Dallas, got to fly in the tow planes Andrew has been flying, Ag
Wagon and Scout
Phil B. reported that he flew 16 days during May and flew off the first 40 hours
on his Rans Coyote. Phil reported all was well except that he was not happy with
the oil temp. (230 to 235 degrees)
Joe S. reported he flew locally the previous Sunday and had flow approximately
15hrs this year.
Bob B. Reported he flew with a group of 4 aircraft (Christen Eagles, Pitts) to
Janesville for their fly in. Was asked if they were part of the show and he said
“yes” so the parked them on the show ramp near the Thunderbirds and Snowbirds.

Roger gave an educational presentation on Roll Clouds (horizontal tornados)
Mountain Flying and the effects of high density altitude.
GOOD OF THE CLUB
Don noted that you should call flight services before flying to be sure there
are no TFRs were you want to fly
Bob noted that a local Cub pilot was showing off for friends decided to skim a
flooded farm field, caught the wheels in the water and flipped the plane. Pilot
was not hurt but hi dad’s plane was (OOPS)
