FLYING REPORTS
Christine W. flew to St Louis in the Archer. Flew down Friday and back
Saturday. Reported fine flying weather both ways. First time flying the plane
heavily loaded with full tanks on a hot day, very long takeoff roll.
Brian G. reported having a delightful local flight
Mick flew to Eagle Creek north of Indianapolis. Mick reported that it is a very
nice airport with great accommodating people. Mick noted that the local motel
owner came and picked him up
Don and Joe flew to the Mt. Morris pancake breakfast. Joe reported that two
Super Cubs decided to show off by taking off across the runway. One made it ok
but the second caught his wheels in the corn and spun the plane in. No injuries
reported but extensive damage to the plane.
Phil B. reported he flew several days the week before. Phil flew up to Oshkosh
only to find the run way closed for repair. Flew to the Ohio area, covered 800
miles in 2 days
CAVALCADE REPORT
FVFC team performed well supporting the Ford Tri-motor. Received Kudos from EAA
chapter 461. FVFC banner was prominently displayed
Mick flew as a passenger and noted it was more fun than expected. All those who
flew in the Tri-motor had a great time.
Brian G. flew in the co-pilot seat and got to fly the plane through the pattern.
Brian noted that the plane is “a pig” and takes a lot of effort to move the
controls.
GOOD OF THE CLUB
It was reported that a pilot flying from Cushing field made a forced landing
near a road in a 2 seat Quicksilver.
It was reported that the pilot contacted Cushing management for assistance.
The local police became involved. Cushing management was unable to
assist this pilot.
All pilots should understand that their actions, positive and negative, reflect
on the entire flying community.
Phil B. reported that Kent C. was scheduled for open heart surgery. A motion
was passed to have Phil send a gift/flowers on behalf of the club, up to $100
The local events in July were discussed
