Minutes of October 6, 2011 meeting
Meeting was held in the Ward’s hangar at Clow
Airport.
Called to order by Roger at 7:10 PM
Meeting held without the projector. Bulb was shipping that day
Joe S. cooked ribs and pork chops, cheesy potatoes etc. All the food was too
good to describe
BUSINESS
The secretary read the minutes from the September Meeting
The Treasurer was MIA.
Need to start the process of electing new officers (nominations etc.) Roger
asked for volunteers and the silence was absolute
Christmas Party – it was decided to empower Jim to set the menu. (Tom H. has
picked this up, menu to be set at Nov. meeting)
Meeting day. Given that EAA chapter 461 meets on the first Thursday of the month
a motion passed to move the FVFC meeting day to the second Thursday of the month
starting in 2012
This will allow greater cooperation and sharing between EAA 461 and FVFC
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Warren received his Tail Wheel Endorsement
Mick. Received his first class medical without restriction after much hassle
with the FAA. Mick had been on a special issuance medical due to a scratched
cornea.
Mick noted that the AOPA was not much help. Mick worked with his GP and eye
doctor to convince the FAA.
Dan G. discussed information from a FAA FAST seminar on Propellers.
Bob B. noted that the EAA Webinars have been informative. You get them on line
and if you join in when first presented you can ask questions. Also you can
download recordings of past Webinars.
CLOW REPORT
Bruce sold his plane and hanger to John Wilkins
Picnic was a great success. Lot’s of good food, airplane rides and great weather
Kevin flew with Vance in the Tigermoth for the first time
After the picnic a club pilot flying a friend’s GT400 back to Cushing lost power
and made a forced landing in a corn field. The pilot was not hurt and the plane
suffered minor damage
-BUT-
The FAA and NTSB got word of the “off field landing” and during their
investigation noted that the plane departed Clow Airport which is under the edge
of the O’Hare controlled space veil and therefore requires that the aircraft
have a transponder.

took a two day trip and flew around Lake Michigan.
