Minutes of March 3, 2011 meeting
Minutes for the March 3, 2011 FVFC Meeting
Meeting was held at Charlie’s Restaurant Clow Airport. Called to order by Roger
Kellogg at 7:02pm
Roger welcomed the members and visitors. Sam Slocomb joined the club (new member
YAY)
Roger reviewed the mission statement and agenda and noted that the website is up
to date
BUISNESS
Tom Houghton read the minutes from the February meeting. Tom also gave the
treasurer’s report. New balance 2,358.88
Education training; nothing new reported
Clow report. All hangars survived the winter OK
Cushing report: nothing new to report
EMERGING BUSINESS
Christmas Party for 2011 is scheduled for December 10, 2011 6pm to 11pm at the
Bolingbroke Golf club (approx. 2 miles SW of Clow)
Price per member, activities and menu are all “in work”
Meeting Schedule
4/7/11 at Charlie’s. Guest speaker Tom Wartel, former controller at Aurora
tower. TFRs
5/5/11 at Cushing. Presentation TBA
6/2/11 at one of the hangers at Clow
Continuing Business – attracting new members
Roger showed an old FVFC brochure that gave some information and background of
the club
Discussion was had regarding updating and printing copies the brochure. Members
can then have something to “hand out” when participating in activities such as
Cavalcade. Also members can take them with them when flying and stick them to
the local airport bulletined boards
Christine Ward is going to contact old members to see why they are no longer
active in the club.
PROJECTS
Steve V. Kitfox – Making progress, working the doors and fuselage. Should be
covered this summer
Andrew K. Cassult – No progress. Currently working in Minnesota. Working on
Moonys by day and helping with a Thrush turbo conversion and restoration by
night.
Roger K. RV 7 – working on the engine installation. Has all the exhaust tubes
but need to weld them together. Roger noted he needed a tube bender with a
tighter radius then what he has. Several members offered their tube benders.
WHO’S BEEN FLYING
Bob made several “Angel flights” taking patients to the Mayo Clinic

June Picnic at Cushing will be the Saturday before Fathers Day
NEWS< VIEWS and GENERAL DISCUSION
Roger lead a conversation about flying to the Bahamas, looks like fun but the
shortest rout still has a 60 mile ocean crossing.
It was noted that more homebuilts were registered last year than factory built
singles.
Joe S; made it to the Springfield Safety seminar. The new MC is Jeff Gorn. There
were a lot of vendors on hand but total attendance was down. The seminar was OK
It was noted that there has been a claim of finding Amelia Earhart wreckage but
the location seams wrong. Close to New Guinea not Holland island
Teen Flight Oregon. A group is building a RV12 with teenagers. Getting kids
involved in aviation.
