Minutes of July 7, 2011 meeting
Meeting called to order by President Roger K. at
7:03 PM.
A warm "thank you" was extended by all gathered to Laura and Jose for taking
such good care of us.
Visitors - Bob R.'s wife Nina. Surprise visit by Neal M., who we had all
given up as MIA. Surprise visit by a U2 pilot who we cannot name in print.
We warmed up by watching some T-38 footage.
Reports
Secretary was MIA for the evening. Minutes of the May meeting,
recorded by Bob B. at the Catich Air-Ranch were read and approved as recorded.
Minutes of the current meeting were foisted-off on Brian B.
Treasurer reports $2124.65 in the till. His report was approved..
Training - Laura is flying, but no check-ride yet.
Website - Don is keeping up to date the yahoo calendar, but this is not synching
with website.
Clow Report - They still plan to widen the taxiway.
Cushing Report – Still no gas. Probably no gas this year. Bob
B. suggested getting a 500 gallon truck tanker.
Christmas party at Bolingbrook Golf Club – December 10, 2011, from 6 to
10 pm.
Next meeting - August 4, 2011 at the Ward's Hangar at Clow
September meeting at a hangar at Clow TBA.
FEATURE PRESENTATION:
Sam Heiter, FAA, treated us to a presentation about weather forecasting.
He had to do it off the cuff, because the technology gods were not smiling on
him. We discussed:
METARS -"Aviation Routing Weather Report"
BR = "mist" (from French). >7 miles to < 5/8 miles. Fog is next
"Special" WX reports: Serious WX; wind shifts (+45 deg. + 10 MPH in 10
minutes)
TAF: "terminal aerodrome forecast
NOTAMS
Problem with "met towers": 197 feet, guy wires, UN-LIT. Grey and
very dangerous.

Projects
Steve V. – Kitfox on hold; he's headed to Alaska.
Andrew K. – no progress on the Cassutt. He's busy rebuilding Ag Cats.
Tom - Pretty pictures of his Kitfox. He's started the motor!
Barry – flew a couple of times went to JOT, his first time being there. Nice
little airport.
