Minutes of August 4, 2011 meeting

 

Meeting was held at the Ward’s hanger at Clow airport

Meeting was called to order by Roger at 7:03pm, meeting was held the old fashion way as we had no bulb for the projector

Roger welcomed all attendees, reviewed the mission statement and meeting agenda

Visitors: Robert and Jonathan Coony, saw the web-site and are interested in flying. Nina Riddle, Brad, Bruce and Bruce

Minutes from the July meeting were read

Treasurer reported $2,107.00 Balance with 41 paid members


Education/Training – Nothing reported


Web site – Up to date


CLOW REPORT

Fairly quiet, some flying. No talk of having auto gas at Clow


CUSHING REPORT

Still no gas. Bud is working on a solution but no ETA for gas


OSHKOSH REVIEW

Members discussed their Oshkosh experience

Several members made it to Oshkosh but fewer flyers this year due to weather and schedule

Brian G. Drove up, 1st time he did not fly

Mick P. Roger K. Kent and Sharon C. all drove up, weather

Brad Wolf; Drove up. Flew Mike Benevelli’s GT400 back

Tom H. flew up with friends in a twin turboprop Cessna Conquest

Bob. Flew up the Cessna 210

All participants reported a great time

Brad W. reported a Ricky Andersen sighting. Brad said he looks good and misses flying

Night airshow was “cool”

Thanks to:

Kent and Sharon for securing the camp site

Roger for hauling up the trailer

Mick and Jude for Dinner planning.

Next Year we need more of a group effort/more member participation.


PILOT REPORTS

Brian and Barry flew to the East Troy with a stop at the Catich air ranch

Don got a call from the Kane County Sheriff at 7:00am. Help locate 4 steers that had gotten out

Mick flew Evan to Dixon where Evan had his plane painted. On Mick’s return he smelled smoke in the cockpit and made a hasty return to Dixon. Alternator burned up. Received the replacement Alternator 3pm Wed

Phil B flew Mick to Dixon and helped him install the replacement. Finished at 7:30pm, Mick needed to be in Ohio Thursday for his son’s wedding.


GOOD OF THE CLUB

Don reminded us to check the throttle setting before starting. Don witnessed an individual start his plane not knowing that the loop on his passenger’s pants was looped over the throttle holding it wide open

The aircraft ran in to a building. No serious injuries but the plane was damaged.


EVENTS

Upcoming events were discussed, posted to web-site and yahoo groups

Xmas Party is 12/10/11 at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Need a volunteer to plan activities

OPEN DISCUSION

Kent thanked the club for the flowers

Mick suggested (and the members approved) $40.00 to Roger, gas money for towing the trailer to Oshkosh

Cost of the camp sites at Oshkosh this year was $172.00

New Bulb for the projector was ordered, $231.00

Thanks to Bob and Mick for picking up the pizza for the meeting
