Minutes of September 1, 2011 meeting
Meeting was held in the Ward’s hangar at Clow
Airport.
Called to order by Roger at 7:01 PM
The secretary read the minutes from the August Meeting
The Treasurer reported a Balance of 1,763.73 (500.00 deposit down for Christmas
Party)
Tom H. has the remaining club hate and t-shirts for sale at $5.00
Clow Report:
The lawn got Mowed. Some Coyotes have moved in to the area and are helping
control the ground squirrels and geese.
Cushing Report:
A person flying an older Capella Ultra light experienced a separation of the
right wing rear spar. The pilot was able to make a controlled crash in to the
corn field NW of the airport
The pilot suffered some cracked ribs. The aircraft is totaled.
FLYING REPORTS
Brian G.
Flew to Rochelle, DeKalb, and Brooke Ridge. Good time at all
Brian noted the Brooke Ridge flyin was set up so you had to use the E/W runway
but the wind was from the north. Some tricky rotors but got in/out OK
Christine W. Flew to Rochelle for the first time
Barry W. Flew to the DeKalb corn fest. Reported that is basically a full out
“County type Fair” with all the culinary delights one expects at a fair
Barry said a Mig21 did some low passes (way cool)
Don. Flew to Hartenbower (twice, they changed the date) Dekalb, Rochelle and
Lake in the Hills (twice, they changed the date)
Bob R. flew to Rochelle
Jim. Noted he installed a new EGT system. More accurate so he can lean the
engine more and is saving a lot of gas
Jim and Mick flew to Michigan together
Mick and Jude flew to the Wausau down town airport. Mick reported that it is a
neat town worth the trip. Mick and jude also flew to St. Louis
Bob B. reported that he was part of a meeting with the mayor of Mt. Morris, FAA,
Int’l Aerobatics Committee and the manager of Mt. Morris airport.
They are establishing an Aerobatics box next to the airport for practice and a
box over the airport for competitions. NOTAMS will be issued to turn the boxes
on/off
Bob noted that the city is open to an airshow but the airport manager is not.
Projects
Tom H. Done, Kitfox has an Airworthiness Cert. has done some “crow hops” Tom is
working with the Citabrea to get his tailwheel endorsement
Other projects are continuing slowly.
