Minutes of February 9, 2012 meeting

Meeting held at Charles’s restaurant, Clow airport, called to order by Roger Kellogg @ 7:02pm


Roger welcomed all members and guests, read the mission statement and reviewed the meeting agenda


REPORTS

Minutes from the last meeting (Nov.2011) were reviewed (note, Jan 2012 meeting cancelled due to weather)

Treasurer reported a balance of $1,371.38 and several members also paid the annual dues at the meeting

CHRISTMAS PARTY DEBRIEF

31 people attended the Christmas Party

Cost per person was $55.64. total spent by the club to subsidize the party was $879.92

All those who attended gave very positive feedback.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Don, Phil, Bob, Vance and Neil did the tour of the Chicago ATC center in Aurora. Very interesting and highly recommended


CLOW REPORT

Joe Depolo was holding the initial planning meeting for Cavalcade on 2/11/12


CUSHING REPORT

The main field was reported to be in good condition, taxi areas very muddy

No update on when or if fuel will be available.


EMERGING BUSINESS

March meeting 3/8, April meeting 4/12. At Charles’s

Springfield Safety seminar is 3/3/12


FEATURE PRESENTATION

Phil B discussed an article from the “Wind Tunnel” column in Kit Planes magazine regarding takeoffs in a tricycle airplane

Phil related some insights from experience with his airplanes.


PROJECT UPDATE

Tom H. Kit Fox. Airplane is flying well, has 35 hours flown

Steve V. Kit Fox. Steve has been working in Alaska, no progress

Andrew K. working in Minn. No progress

Roger K. RV7. Working on panel, installing glass panel with a 10” and 7” screen. Roger has built a spray both in his hanger with floor “down draft” ventilation.


PILOT REPORTS

Phil B. flew to Davenport IA. Nice airport

Bob B. Ill. Valley has opened a runway 25 but this has displaced the threshold for runway 36 substantially shortening it.


NEWS AND VIEWS

Brian G. noted that you can have a background check done on yourself and that once completed allows faster travel through airport security (particularly overseas travel)
