Fox Valley Flying Club

April, 2007 Newsletter

Thoughts from the Editor

Not much to say.  Yes, it's been a little over three months since I last put together a newsletter, but there's not been a whole lot of meaty news that is Ultralight/Sport Pilot/FVFC-related to report on.  Evan Wright sent me an article a l-o-n-g time ago about his Biennial Flight Review, but he sent me that article (1) only days after I had just gotten out the last Newsletter Issue, and (2) on New Year's Eve, when I was out of town, in Arizona, drinking too many Margaritas.  So, I'd kinda forgotten all about it until now.  *oops*  Sorry Evan!  Better late than never...  Kent Catich continues to provide me with interesting stories relating to Government Spy Planes and life in Afganistan (thanks, Kent!), and they make for great reading while I wait to receive news that is a little closer to home; about planes that we might actually be able to fly, or trips that we actually might make ourselves.  Not that there haven't been a few opportunities for such articles.  For example, I know some folks went to the annual Springfield Safety Seminar in February, but nobody wrote it up or sent pictures.

So, I've cobbled-together a few items that might be of interest to y'all.  If you want to read more, put up or shut up:  send to me (via email to gilomen@ais.net) any and all stories about flying that you have done, flying that you wanted to do and flying that made you wish you had stayed on the ground, as well as any amusing anecdotes, grumpy gripes, scary stories and wanted/for sale/for trade ads.  Let's get to it, people!
